How is a Modular Home different from a Mobile Home?
Although terms like “modular, “mobile,” and “manufactured” are often mistakenly used interchangeably, there are a few important differences between them. Let’s start with the term “manufactured.” A manufactured home is any home that is built inside a factory and then transported to its site. Our website is filled with manufactured home prices, and photos of double wides, so you should be able to easily find the perfect one. “Stick-built” homes, on the other hand, are built directly onsite.
So what does this mean for your home? In essence, when you buy a modular home, your state or even county will determine its building code, just like it would for a conventionally-built home. For this reason, a modular home is indistinguishable from a traditional stick-built home.
